Minecraft BETA

If you ever find yourself wanting to play the most casual game ever. This is the game you should be playing. There are two versions currently available, Minecraft Classic and Minecraft Beta.

In Minecraft Classic, you find yourself in a randomly generated world with an arsenal of blocks and plants. You can build forts, underground caverns, and even a pikachu. Though the concept is simple, Minecraft Classic is still a big hit despite all the updates for Minecraft Beta. Minecraft Classic is free to play, and you can try it out for yourself via this link.

I had the good fortune to buy Minecraft when it was still Alpha. If you buy it now you get all the updates and
full game, and I thought that was a great deal. In Beta you are just a man(or woman) in a world infested with creatures(zombies, skelatons, creepers, and spiders oh my!) that come out during the night. You need to make shelter, weapons and armor to survive this world, and you get most of your materials by punching trees and cows. At night you hide in your shelter waiting for the nightmare to end. If you're brave and you really need more wood for a fire and you venture out during the night, you risk being attacked or blown up. If being chased around at night isn't your thing, no problem there's a peaceful mode where you can just frolic among the flowers and along side the cows and sheep. There also is a really great new update added in recently where you can have your very own Pet Wolf. It'll always be by your side and will attack anything that attacks you. At the moment there is no limit to how many pet wolves you can have, so if you want a 20-wolf-wolf-pack be my guest, and pray and hope they don't make an update where you only get to keep 2. A feature that is totally useless but I hope they add is to name the wolf. You'll find that once you start playing Beta mode, you become ridiculously sucked into the world around you. You'll build signs that label everything for no reason, build a bed and bookshelves though your character can't read. At this rate we might as well be able to name our wolves. If I have a 30-wolf-wolf-pack, it's going to be really hard keeping up with who is who, especially since they all are gray and have the same red collar. I'd also like it if we could choose the color of the collar.

My Rating: 8 out of 10 punched cows.

I could play this game for Hours and not realize I've been playing it for hours, EVERY TIME I PLAY. Most casual games I'll play for a little bit, be slightly entertained and then get bored. Not this game, it was definitely worth every penny, and I still love playing it. I can't wait til Survival Multiplayer starts becoming more refined and actually playable. There's still a lot of work that needs to be done before this game is perfect, but so far the developers are doing an awesome job giving the Minecraft community exactly what they want in the newer updates.
